We holiday in the French Pyrenees most years during the autumn
migration. This is a fascinating time when great numbers of
raptors etc. cross the mountains.
Whilst walking in the mountains we often see Marmottes but you need
to get your eye in for them. They are rock coloured and live among
rocks. You can hear the whistle and you know they are within a
couple of hundred metres but can you spot them?
They are charming creatures to watch and are the largest members of the squirrel
family.
